The 30th Thailand International Motor Expo was the stage for the world premiere for the Suzuki A:Wind concept. A futuristic-looking much-needed replacement for its long-running Suzuki Alto A-segment hatchback.
The real-world looking exterior features of the car have led us to believe the concept design will not be far off from the production version. The concept uses 185/65 R16, we surmise that the production version will most likely be shod with 14 or 15 inch wheels and tires. The exterior look generally follows the new design language set by the SX4 debuted earlier this year, and so far, we are liking what we see. It measures at 3600mm long, 1600mm wide, 1540mm high, and sits on a 2425mm wheelbase. The concept shows a significantly larger car with a longer wheelbase than the outgoing Alto.
Under the hood is a 1.0-liter gas engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and it runs on the front-wheels.
Suzuki will commence production of the A:Wind in 2014 at the Maruti-Suzuki factory in India, the production hub of its A-segement models and begin sales shortly after. The debut will most likely be held at the India Auto Expo in May.
