Suzuki recently announced a refreshed Escudo (Grand Vitara) SUV for the Japanese market, which indicates that an update for the Grand Vitara should also be coming soon. This is the second update to the current Grand Vitara which first debuted in 2005. The major facelift includes a rounder and more modern front fascia, relocation of the rear spare carrier, and new 17-inch wheels.

Revised rear with no spare tire

For purists, it will be reassuring that nothing has changed with regards to the drivetrain, which remains to be a full-scale 4WD system. The engine will still be the same 2.4-liter DOHC VVT inline-4 as found in the current version.

Rear cargo

A special "X-Adventure" version will also be available for the Japanese market. Inspired by the adventure race of the same name in Europe, the special version will be equipped with ESP, Hill Descent Control, Hill Hold Control, sunroof and accessory upgrades.

Suzuki Philippines has yet to reveal details as to when the local Grand Vitara will be updated.
