Suzuki gives a glimpse of their future compact 4WD vehicle styling with the X-Lander and Hustler concepts debuted at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. Despite being a relatively minor player in the auto industry as bulk of their business is with motorcycles, Suzuki still manages to come up with future four-wheel concepts.
Based on the Jimny, the X-Lander concept is described as ‘a compact crossover which fuses fresh styling with a dynamic weight reduction and highly-efficient powertrain’. It is targeted at city dwellers who would take their car out to play in the great outdoors.
Under the hood is a 1.3-liter engine coupled with a newly developed automatically controlled (clutchless) manual transmission. In tune with the current times, it will feature a compact lightweight hybrid system integrated into the 4WD system.
The Hustler is designed as a 4WD hybrid mini crossover concept. It combines retro-styling with modern touches. Suzuki aims to target customers with an active lifestyle, who love nature, the outdoors and sports. Despite having a tough exterior, the interior was designed to be roomy, comfortable and utilitarian. No details were given as to what exactly will power the Hustler.
A coupe variant was also displayed to mimic the lifestyle crossover coupes like the Range Rover Evoque.
