Isuzu is celebrating the 5th anniversary of the mu-X in a big way. After first making its Philippine debut back in September 2014, Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has upgraded their seven-seater family SUV to take on the road less traveled.
Officially making its debut at is the limited edition 2020 mu-X Boondock. Featuring a more aggressive look along with plenty of extras, the mu-X Boondock is geared towards families that want to explore every corner of the Philippines in a practical, rugged, and high-riding SUV.
Unlike the standard offering, the Boondock gets some special exterior features that make it more rugged and capable than your typical mu-X. Like the D-Max Boondock from before, the special edition mu-X comes with a new front lip and contrast accents that enhance its looks.
The SUV also gets exclusive steel stepboards with the ‘Boondock’ logo. 17-inch machine-finished alloy wheels, along with 265/70/R17 Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires give the mu-X Boondock its new rugged stance.
And like the pickup version, the mu-X is also fitted with performance shock absorbers and aftermarket springs to give a 50mm lift on all four corners. Combined with the chunkier tires, this gives the mu-X better ground clearance.
Need to haul more stuff? The Boondock comes standard with a roof-mounted crossbar which can carry a roof rack, bicycle rack, or even a surfboard for when you’re going out of town.
Inside, the leather seats get a new ribbing in the middle part that complements the rugged exterior. In addition, the driver’s seat is electronically-adjustable. Like the rest of the mu-X lineup, the Boondock also comes with the following in-car amenities: 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with navigation, Wi-Fi, CD/DVD, USB, Bluetooth and Aux, 10-inch drop-down LCD monitor, and a six-speaker sound system.
Under the hood, the mu-X Boondock is powered by the familiar 3.0-liter 4JJ1-TCX turbo-diesel engine with BluePower Technology. It generates 177 PS at 3600 rpm along with 380 Nm of torque at 1800 - 2800 rpm. The special edition Boondock is only available in 4x2 trim and is exclusively mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual select.
The limited edition Isuzu mu-X Boondock will only come in Havana Brown and will be available in all 42 authorized Isuzu dealerships next month. Suggested retail price of the mu-X Boondock is at Php 1,845,000.
However, a Php 160,000 discount is waiting for all prospective buyers, bringing the SRP to a competitive Php 1,685,000.
