The city of Taguig has opened its first drive-thru COVID-19 testing centers
Residents of Taguig City that wish to test if they have contracted COVID-19 can now do so after the local government officially opened its first drive-thru COVID-19 testing center.
Launched yesterday at Bonifacio Global City (BGC), the testing center is located at the northeast parking area in front of Kidzania, and is patterned after South Korea's drive-thru testing centers. According to Mayor Lino Cayetano, the opening of the drive-thru testing center is part of the city's Systematic Mass Approach to Responsible Testing (SMART).
“This is part of the SMART Testing framework of the city which ensures that everyone who needs to be tested will be tested,” said Cayetano.
The Mayor of Taguig added that the drive-thru testing center is only one of the methods that they are using to defeat COVID-19 as the local government is conducting contact tracing and testing possible infected persons via a house-to-house basis, through public and private hospitals, and in barangay health centers.
Taguig residents that are possibly infected with the coronavirus can call the city's COVID-19 hotline at 878-93200 or 09664194510 in order to be assessed by the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CESDU). Residents will then be given a digital control number by CESDU, which they'll have to present at the testing center in order to be tested. Afterward, the resident will be given an anti-COVID kit with a monitoring sheet. CESDU will contact them regarding their results within three to five days after testing.
However, if a patient is already exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, the resident will be instructed to go to an isolation area. An ambulance will be on hand should hospitalization will be needed for the patient. So far, a total of 10 suspected patients who have undergone testing in BGC are believed to be infected by COVID-19.
Aside from the testing center located in BGC, the City of Taguig also put up another drive-thru testing facility in Lakeshore Taguig in Barangay Lower Bicutan. The BGC Testing Center is open every Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM while the Lakeshore Taguig Testing Center is open on Fridays at the same time.
“We are making testing available to the most number of Taguigenos we possibly can. Testing is a very important part of a successful Covid-19 response. It saves lives,” added Cayetano.
