The tiny Jeep that could is now available without four-wheel drive after the automaker launched an all-new variant of the Renegade. Called the Renegade Limited 4x2, it comes with the same charming exterior and interior design as the all-wheel drive version, but geared towards the urban lifestyle.
Under the hood, the Renegade Limited 4x2 is powered by a 1.4-liter MultiAir turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Unlike its 4WD brethren which produces 168 PS and 250 Nm of torque, the 4x2 Limited version only puts out 135 PS at 5500 rpm and 230 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm. Power is shifted to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission (instead of a nine-speed automatic) that drives the front wheels.
Despite only being front-wheel drive, the 4x2 Renegade still comes with a wide array of in-car amenities. It comes with a 7-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system that is connected to a six speakers. The system supports Apple Carplay, Aux, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. There is also dual-zone automatic climate control system, 7-inch multi-info display, 60:40 split rear seats, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and cloth-wrapped seats.
In terms of safety, the Renegade Limited 4x2 is equipped with the following: anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and brake assist (BA), electronic stability control (ESC) with electronic roll mitigation (ERM), forward collision warning (FCW), hill-start assist (HSA), lane departure warning (LDW), front and rear parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring and six airbags.
Available colors for the 2018 Renegade Limited 4x2 include: Anvil, Black, Colorado Red, Granite Crystal Metallic, Jetset Blue, Omaha Orange and Solar Yellow.
