Subaru all set to arrive at 2016 Tokyo Auto Salon with new STI concepts
New STI concepts will be making their official debut come January after Subaru confirmed that they will all be revealed at the 2016 Tokyo Auto Salon.
The STI Performance Concept (shown above) that was first revealed during the 2015 New York Auto Show, will officially be making its Asian debut. It signifies STI’s core business areas; aftermarket parts, complete cars, and motorsports according to Subaru.
The car gets significant STI upgrades, including the suspension, brakes, as well as exterior and interior enhancements. Under the hood, it is propelled by a 2.0-liter STI-tuned turbocharged EJ20 Boxer engine that the company currently fields in the Super GT race in Japan.
Next is the Levorg STI Concept, which will be sporting a unique WR Blue Pearl paint finish. No images of the car were provided, but Subaru claimed it will also have a distinct front fascia and bespoke STI 18-inch aluminum wheels. The interior, on the other hand, will have a red-wine-black hue. Chassis-wise, it gets STI-tuned dampers that will offer superb ride quality and handling according to Subaru.
There will also be a hybrid crossover that will come in the form of the XV Hybrid STI Concept. The company stated that it will combine the model’s sporty and casual character with its hybrid powertrain and distinct exterior. It will have a Quarts White Silica exterior finish that will be contrasted by orange accents. The cabin will be dominated by streaks of beige and orange.
Other cars that Subaru will display at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon include: 2016 BRZ GT300, 2016 WRX STI NBR Challenge, WRX STI for Japan Rally Championship and a CG Robot Racing BRZ.
The 2016 Tokyo Auto Salon will take place at the Makuhari Messe, Chiba Prefecture from January 15-17.
