Tata Motors has just taken the wraps off of two new cars - the Zest and the Bolt, a sedan and a premium hatchback, respectively. Both cars are set to launch this year in India and subsequently in other countries.
Tata Motors says that the Zest and Bolt models are developed under the collaborative design concepts from the three Tata Motors design studios located in Pune, Coventry (UK), and Turin (Italy). The new design concept features a new Tata signature grill. Furthermore, Zest will be available in either gasoline or diesel engine while Bolt will only be offered in gasoline.
Tata Motors states that both cars sport a premium feel and that "the instrument cluster and the central AC vents are connected in a single wing-shaped graphic". Other features of both cars are a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth technology, smart voice recognition, smart phone integration, supporting phone enabled navigation, social media integration, and touch phone controlled interface.
In addition, Zest and Bolt will have EPAS (Electronic Power Assisted System), with 'Active Return' function and speed sensitive power steering. It is also equipped with new advance ABS.
Both cars are equipped with a Turbocharged Intercooled Multi-point Fuel-Injected (MPFi) Petrol Engine, REVOTRON 1.2T. On the other hand, the diesel variant of Zest will have F-Tronic technology-enabled, 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission capable of producing 90ps with up to 200 Newton-Meters of torque.
Tata Motors is set to arrive in the country under Pilipinas Taj. The company will be led by David Coyukiat as Chairman and President. Taj will also have Nicky Mariano, the former head of Subaru's Philippine operations, as their General Manager.
