Tata Motors, under the distributorship of Pilipinas Taj Autogroup, Inc., has just launched the diesel versions of their two primary models in the Tata Manza 4-door sedan and the Tata Vista 5-door hatchback.

During a preview at the newly opened Tata dealership in Ortigas Extension, Cainta, Pilipinas Taj revealed the two models that are now powered by Fiat Multijet diesel engines to complement the Safire gasoline engines already available in the Vista Ignis and Manza Aura.

Both the Manza Aura and the Vista Ignis now get a twin cam 4-cylinder, 1248cc Quadrajet (rebranded for the Tata) diesel matched with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The Quadrajet common-rail turbodiesel engine in the Vista Ignis makes 75 PS and 190 Newton-meters of torque while the same engine has been uprated to make 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque in the Manza Aura.

The engine now in the Manza and Vista was awarded in 2005 as the International Engine of the Year in the 1.0 to 1.4 liter category for its performance, refinement and efficiency.
