Tesla Motors announces updates for Model X


Deliveries won't come until 2016 for SUV with falcon wing doors

Tesla Motors has released new updates regarding its all electric SUV through its official website.

The automaker says the Model X is designed to combine the "space and functionality" of a sports utility vehicle. It features "Falcon Wing" doors that folds up allowing easy access to the third row seat. Tesla Motors has also announced that the Model X will either have a 60 kWh or 85 kWh electric motor. Moreover, every Model X comes standard with dual motor all wheel drive system and an available 85 kWh Performance option.


Since its debut last 2012, Tesla Motors claims that they have received a lot of reservations for the Model X. However, the automaker hasn't made any deliveries of the Model X until this day. According to reports, Tesla Motors has intially announced that the delivery of the Model X would be in 2013.

In a report by Clean Technica, Tesla Motors has released an open letter addressing the Model X reservation holders. Based on the letter, the automaker stated that the demand for the Model X "has been intense and orders are continuing to come in at a rapid rate."

Tesla Motors added that they will be "spending much of 2015 building and testing production-intent prototypes before delivering the first cars to customers in North America in the third quarter." The automaker also said that they'll be "working through all orders as fast as possible, anyone ordering the car today should not expect delivery until 2016."
