It seems like Chevrolet Philippines, under the care of The Covenant Car Company Inc (TCCCI), is setting a trend for the stealthiest car launches lately. If you remember, last month we realized that the Chevrolet Sonic was silently brought in to showrooms for customers. Well, they've done it again, this time with a bigger car.
Meet the new Trailblazer. Yes, now (or soon) at a showroom near you.
As the look proudly states, the all new Chevrolet Trailblazer is a 7-seat SUV based on the Colorado pick up. This will be a key model for Chevrolet, as the Trailblazer no longer competes against the likes of the Explorer (that's the Traverse's job now), as the new model now enters the fray with the Everest, Alterra, Fortuner and the Montero Sport.
Unlike the previous Trailblazer, this new model is purely diesel powered. No more inline-6 gasoline engines, as the Trailblazer gets the new line of Duramax diesels also found in the Colorado.
The Trailblazer 4x2 LT model gets the 2.5 liter Duramax Turbo Intercooler CRDI diesel engine with 150 PS and 380 Newton-meters of torque. The Trailblazer LT gets a 5-speed manual transmission, a Limited Slip Differential, an AM/FM/CD/MP3 head unit with USB and an Aux port, amongst the typical set of power features (windows, mirrors, locks, steering).
The top of the line model is the Trailblazer 4x4 LTZ variant, which gets a more powerful 2.8 liter Duramax Variable Geometry Turbo Intercooler CRDI diesel engine with 180 PS and 440 Newton meters of torque. It gets the same set of features as the LT, but adds a 6-speed automatic with Tiptronic functions, 4 wheel drive, leather seats, an electronic stability program, hill start assist, traction control, among others.
The price of the Chevrolet Trailblazer LT is PhP 1,368,888 while the Chevrolet Trailblazer LTZ goes for PhP 1,718,888. I know what you're thinking, they sure love their 8's.
If you'd like to check out the Trailblazer, select Metro Manila dealers have them now, while others are on the way.
