The Active Tourer is equipped with new lightweight turbocharged engines
BMW has just unveiled another new product with the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer; a front-wheel drive BMW compact wagon.
BMW says the design of the Active Tourer (in this case, the 218) combines dynamism, style, elegance, and practicality. It has a length of 4,342mm, a width of 1,800mm, and a height of 1,555mm.
The exterior of the Active Tourer has a low-rise double kidney grill which is positioned lower than the headlights. It has a long wheelbase, a wedge profile, and a crisp outline. On the rear, it has an L-shaped taillights.
The interior can accommodate up to five passengers. It has a large glass area that enables the cabin to have a good light source. Furthermore, the optional panoramic roof improve all-round visibility. The luggage compartment’s capacity can be enlarged from 468 to 1,510 liters by foding the rear seats flat. The tailgate features a Smart-Opener function wherein it automatically opens and closes when a foot sets in motion.
The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer also has features such as Auto Start-Stop function, Brake Energy Regeneration, Optimum Gearshift Indicator, on-demand operation of ancillary units and the integral Aero Curtain, which uses two vertical air inlets in the front bumper to direct the airstream along the front wheels.
Under the hood, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is designed with two different engines. The BMW 218i Active Tourer is powered by an all-new three-cylinder engine equipped with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. It can generate up to 138 PS with 220 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.3 seconds and has a top speed of 200 km/h.
On the other hand, the BMW 218d Active Tourer is powered by a four-cylinder diesel engine that can generate up to 152 PS with 330 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and has a top speed of 207 km/h.
