A couple of weeks ago, we reported that General Motors (GM) was supposedly planning to bring back the Hummer as an all-electric vehicle (EV). In addition, the automaker will supposedly get help from NBA superstar LeBron James in order to market the vehicle.

Now, the auto giant has officially confirmed that the Hummer will return under the company's GMC brand, and they claim it is capable of going from 0 – 97 km/h in just three seconds. Not only that, GM also said that it can generate 1,000 PS along with a mind-boggling 15,591 Nm of torque. No, that is not a typo. GM is really claiming that it packs nearly 16,000 Nm of torque.

Apart from revealing the bold figures of the electric Hummer, GMC has yet to reveal anymore details regarding the electric Hummer. However, the company did show a teaser image of the SUV's imposing front end. Looking at the picture provided, the electric SUV gets the signature 'Hummer' nameplate on the front grill, and is accompanied by what appears to be full-width headlights. Finally, it has a black front bumper that features the GMC logo on the left hand side.

The company will preview the all-new electric Hummer this Sunday in a 30-second TV ad during the 2020 Super Bowl in order to make it known to everyone. As to when it will be revealed, GMC said that they will debut the electric Hummer on May 20, 2020 and that it will be built at the GM's Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant.

“GMC builds premium and capable trucks and SUVs and the GMC HUMMER EV takes this to new heights. We are excited to debut our revolutionary zero-emissions truck during the biggest night in TV advertising,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC.

Of course, what we really want to know is how GM was able to put that much torque in the revived EV Hummer. We'll just have to wait sometime this year to know how they did it.
