There's no doubting the pickup truck's capabilities on and off the road. For the most part, a bone stock pickup can do a lot straight out the box. But for some, a stock truck isn't enough. Enter the Isuzu D-Max XTR, perhaps the most capable and extreme version of the popular pickup. It's no concept either; this is an actual production model.

How 'extreme' is it? The D-Max XTR features improved off-road capabilities thanks to a bespoke Pedders suspension system. New front upper arms and dampers improve longer suspension articulation, improving off-road performance. The new suspension also gives it an increased ride height with 250mm worth of ground clearance. The XTR rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires which hide the new performance brakes. Despite the upgraded suspension, Isuzu claims that the ride is still comfortable for road use.

Visually, Isuzu gave the D-Max XTR a custom body kit worthy of the ‘extreme’ name. A new front bumper and thick, black body cladding all around give the D-Max XTR a meaner look. Wide wheel arches, new rear bumper, tailgate spoiler, and blackened door handles complete the exterior makeover.

Inside, the D-Max XTR features a more refined cabin, which is in contrast to the aggressive exterior. It features leather seats with suede inserts and green stitching, along with XTR logos embroidered on it. There is also a new flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in a mixture of suede and leather and features the same green contrast stitching as the seats.

But while the D-Max XTR is a production model, it's strictly for the UK market. However, this special, limited-run model could give ideas to the folks of Isuzu Philippines. After all, there has been quite a lot of special edition D-Max pickups through the years, so one can hope that they will put out a model that will make 4x4 enthusiasts flock to their showrooms.
