While the word Subaru conjures up images of rallying for enthusiasts, the Japanese marque is also widely known for making safe, sensible family runabouts with all-wheel drive.

Now, they want to combine a bit of both with the introduction of the XV GT in the Philippines.

Launched at the 2019 Manila International Auto Show, the kitted up XV GT sports several cosmetic upgrades to distinguish it from the standard models. At the front is a lip by its silver-lined apron, giving the impression of it riding just a little bit lower. Also, there are more prominent bumper corners, care of the kit.

From the side, the most noticeable change are a set of 18-inch alloy wheels which are exclusive to the GT. The unique five-spoke split design even has GT badges on the wheel caps to further amp the exclusivity. If that didn't grab your attention, the XV GT has a deeper set of side skirts, also with a silver bit of trim. At the rear, the XV GT has a more prominent spoiler, along with a a bumper kit.

Stepping inside the the XV GT, there are some subtle changes to the trim. The leather seats get orange stitching. Also, there's a set of floormats, again unique to this variant. While interior cosmetic changes are limited, it does gain another safety feature. The XV GT gains cameras on the side mirrors, which then shows a live feed to the infotainment system at low speeds. This allows drivers to have an easier time maneuvering in tight spaces.

As this is a cosmetic upgrade, there are no tweaks made to the engine. It sticks to the same 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated mill making 156 PS and 196 Nm of torque. All-wheel drive is, of course, standard.

Interested? For now, Subaru Philippines has yet to announce official pricing for the XV GT. However, given that it is largely based on the range-topping 2.0i-P EyeSight (Php 1,688,000), it could breach the Php 1,700,000 mark.
