If you've been observing our reports of late, you'll know that the Ranger Raptor is the most hotly anticipated Ford in recent memory.
But behind the production of the high performance truck is a big team of people at Ford, and during the world premiere at Bangkok, we met many of them. Surprisingly, five of them were Filipinos: Totie Areza, Rogel Jovellanos, Orly Carrasco, Alain Basbas, and Jhun Endaya.
These five Filipinos play key roles in the production of the Ranger Raptor in Thailand for the markets that will receive the truck; i.e. ours.
Totie is part of the team that is overseeing the establishing of the manufacturing the Ranger Raptor. Rogel is the ASEAN General Manager of supplier technical assistance, while Orly is in the purchasing department. Alain and Jhun are both with the New Model Programs department of which the Ranger Raptor is a big part of.
The Raptor is the realization of a dream for Ford, one that takes their hot selling pick-up and transforms it into a 200 horsepower, 500 Newton-meter high-performance desert warrior. The Ranger Raptor borrows its name from the F-150 Raptor, and gets upgrades like a beefed up body, tougher Fox suspension components, a new 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine, and advanced electronics that include a Baja mode for taking on challenging off-road terrain at high speed.
The presence of these five Pinoys at the world premiere showcase the international effort of Ford in developing the Ranger Raptor and making it a production reality.
The Ranger Raptor will be launched in ASEAN markets including the Philippines soon after series production gets underway later this year.
