If you think building a Lego Technic kit is hard with its numerous parts and attention to detail, imagine the difficulty of building a life-size model. Well if you happen to be Lego themselves, that wouldn’t be a problem. After introducing the scale Lego Technic Bugatti Chiron kit recently, the toy manufacturer has once again partnered with the French hypercar maker to build a life-size Bugatti Chiron out of Lego. Better yet, it also works and can move on its own power.

The full-scale Bugatti Chiron is built with other 1 million Lego Technic pieces. The exterior is made mostly using the triangular segments which are connected together to form the Chiron’s exterior ‘body work’. The details don’t stop there. Most of the functions of the real Chiron can also be found on the Lego model such as a moving rear spoiler, headlights and taillights – all of which are made from Lego pieces.

Step inside, and there is more Lego. The dashboard and seats are made from Lego and recreates the Chiron’s interior in detail. There’s even a Lego speedometer which works. A detachable steering wheel and pedals allow the Lego Chiron to be driven. Yes, driven.

As mentioned earlier, the life-size Lego Chiron can move under its own power. No, it can’t do a top speed run similar to the real Chiron – it is made of Lego. It can however go up to 20km/h which is an impressive feat on its own. This is thanks to 2,304 motors, 4,032 gears and 2,016 cross axles, all of which are sourced from Lego Technic.

The full-sized Lego Chiron took over 13,000 hours of development and constructions from the guys at Lego’s Kladno factory in the Czech Republic. That’s roughly 18 months spent to build the full-scale Chiron. What’s more, it also the first none-glued model of its size. In order to complete the look, the only non-Lego parts are the actual Chiron wheels and tires and emblems.
