Toyota to begin retail sales of upcoming Rush in May

Can't wait to get your hands on the all-new Toyota Rush? Well you'll have to wait a little longer as Toyota will begin sales of their all-new seven-seater mini SUV come May of this year. However, the company did annouce that they have now opened reservations for the upcoming Rush.

According to Toyota Motors Philippines (TMP), customers can now place their reservations through any of the 63 authorized dealers nationwide. There is no exact date yet as to when will the company officially launch the Rush but our best estimate is that TMP will hold its local debut sometime in April or before May.

In review, the soon-to-be-released Rush is set to compete against the likes of the Mitsubishi Xpander and Honda BR-V. It measures 4435mm long, 1695mm wide and 1705mm tall. Unlike its contemporaries which have car-based unibody platforms, the Rush is built on a full-ladder frame chassis much like the Avanza from which it is based on.

It comes with a sleek and aggressive styling reminiscent of its bigger brother, the Fortuner. The front fascia gets upswept headlights and a massive four-slat grill. The rear, on the other hand, gets wraparound taillights, a rear diffuser and a tailgate-mounted spoiler.

Power is provided by a 1.5-liter Dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine borrowed from the Avanza. It puts out 104 PS along with 136 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic.
