It seems McLaren now has a new line of supercars, and it's their most affordable yet. Yes, it's even more affordable than their Sport Series models (comprised of the 540C, 570S, etc.). It's also all-electric. However, there is a catch with this new line of models. It is quite small since it is a toy. Called the “Ride-On” range, it is essentially an electric toy car for kids.
Even though it is made for kids, adults can easily fit too. Just take a look at McLaren Formula One driver, Lando Norris. Judging by the smile on his face, he certainly looks to be enjoying the toy. More importantly, the Senna model is highly-detailed. It features working dihedral doors, brakes and brake lights, and even a functional infotainment system.
Five colors are available to choose from – black, white, Mira orange, Vega blue, and Memphis red; all of which are also available on the actual Senna. A sixth, special edition color – exclusive to McLaren retailers – is finished in yellow with green accents; a tribute to the legend Ayrton Senna himself.
To give kids, and the young at heart, a similar experience to being in a Senna, McLaren has fitted a push-button start which includes the Senna's startup sound. A USB or SD Card can be plugged into the infotainment system so kids can jam to their own tunes.
Unfortunately, performance is a bit down when compared to the actual Senna. However, it is a lot more affordable. In the UK, the Senna “Ride-On” retails for £375 (Php 24,115) which is quite expensive for a toy no doubt. But when you compare it to the Senna, it is actually more affordable.
If you happen to own an actual Senna, best to get the toy version too. At least you and your kid could do twinning properly. You can also expand your kid's garage with the rest of the McLaren “Ride-On” lineup comprised of a P1 and a 720S.
