If you ever felt that the TRD kit for the Toyota GR Supra was too tame, well Tom’s Racing might have something that is wilder and might suit your taste more. Better yet, you don’t actually need to buy parts individually and put it on your Supra. Instead, the tuning house is offering a complete Tom’s GR Supra for sale.
Revealed at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon, the Tom’s has drastically restyled the GR Supra, giving it a very aggressive look. The most obvious additions are the wider fenders which are made from lightweight dry carbon. Because of these special fenders, the Supra’s width has been expanded to 1,950mm and is as wide as the Super GT GT500 race car. A large rear wing, combined with an aggressive diffuser, help improve downforce for better cornering. Though not as obvious, the front bumper has also been restyled and is paired with a splitter that is said to help improve aerodynamics.
A special Legend Green color helps make the Tom’s Supra stand out from other GR Supras on display at Tokyo Auto Salon. Completing the exterior makeover are the lightweight Vossen forged wheels.
Inside, the cabin gets treated to a carbon fiber diet. There are new garnishes all over to give the interior a sportier appeal. However, the most significant upgrade would be the new Tom’s bucket seats.
To further improve handling, the chassis has been reinforced with a special brace to increase rigidity. Tom’s Advox coilovers suspension have also been added to help lower the car and improve cornering ability. Bringing the Tom’s Supra to a stop are a set of larger Brembo six-piston brakes with 380mm rotors.
To match the more aggressive looks, Tom’s also tweaked the Supra’s engine. The turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six now produces 460 horsepower and 578 Nm torque thanks to upgrades made to the engine and powertrain. A new high flow turbo and intercooler, IS-F style Tom’s exhaust, and an ECU tune helped generate an additional 120 horsepower over the standard engine. It still shifts via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
As mentioned earlier, the Tom’s Supra is a complete car on sale. Only 99 units will be built by Tom’s Racing with each one having a Yen 14,230,000 (Php 6,581,000) price tag. Deliveries of the Tom’s Supra is expected to start later this year.
