Competitive pricing scheme for Philippine market
Toyota has certainly come out with "more exciting cars" after Akio Toyoda's apology about "boring cars" in 2009. The upcoming 86 sports coupe is certainly one of the more exciting cars to come out of Toyota. The 86 is a joint project between Toyota Motor Corporation and Fuji Heavy Industries/Subaru (which Toyota partly owns) and is being built at the FHI Gunma factory in Ota-city, Japan.
The excitement was drummed up further this weekend, as some of you might have seen them parade around Metro Manila over the weekend. We actually found out about the variants since early this month, but respected TMP's request to keep the information private. This morning, Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation officially released the price list as follows: 86 2.0 MT – Php1,550,000; 86 2.0 AT – Php1,650,000, and 86 2.0 AT Aero – Php1,860,000. The Aero variant will look like the car pictured above.
There will be seven colors available for the new 86. They are Satin White Pearl*, Sterling Silver Metallic, Dark Grey Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, Lightning Red, Galaxy Blue Silica and Orange Metallic (Toyota 86 exclusive color).
*Satin White Pearl color option will cost an additional Php15,000.
The Toyota 86 will be a continuous model as opposed to rumors going around that there will only be 20 units sold in the country. Stocks will be limited however per batch as demand for the sports coupe is very high around the world.
