Toyota Motor Philippines has posted a 32% increase for the year-to-date sales of its commercial vehicle line-up versus the same period last year, according to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI).

Compared to the other automotive manufacturers, Toyota posted the highest increase in CV sales, due to the strong performance of their new IMV offerings. Total CV sales for Toyota has reached 9,294 untis for the first half of 2005 with YTD share of 30.9 percent, and 2,017 units for the month of June alone with almost 34% market share. Still, Toyota is the undisputed leader in the Philippine Automotive Industry with reported total vehicle sales of 16,803 units with 35.3% market share.

Looking at the IMV models one by one, the Hilux recorded 205 percent increase compared to its sales records the same time last year. The introduction of the new Hilux on the last quarter of 2004 has boosted Toyota's market share in the pick-up segment. The Innova likewise showed a stronger performance compared to its Revo predecessor, with 5,890 units sold for the first half of 2005. The recently-launched Fortuner reported sales of 537 units. Cumulative sales for the IMV line-up has reached 7,542 units, which comprises 25% of the 30,107 units sold under the Commercial Vehicle Market.

The Toyota Hiace, although not officially part of the IMV roster, has also posted a tremendous leap in sales figures in the tune of 500% due to the introduction of the Commuter variant in January, and the GL Grandia last June. The Hiace also has the powerful D4D Common-Rail Diesel engine found in the Hilux, Innova and Fortuner, and the VVT-i engine for the gasoline variants.

Toyota's consolidated vehicle sales of 3,321 units for the Month of June has been the highest recorded by the Philippines' number one automotive company for 2005. Toyota continues to lead not just the Commercial Vehicle segment, but also in the passenger car (PC) segment, with 43% market share or 7,509 units.

Despite political and economic instability in the country, Toyota continues to provide the best products and services to its customers. With its aggressive marketing efforts and vast dealership network nationwide, Toyota aims to further strengthen its performance for the second half of the year.
