These days, car safety is not just about building a car that will keep you safe in a crash. Automakers are continuously making strides in making cars equipped with high-tech safety systems that can prevent a crash from happening in the first place. One of these cars is the 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross which was recently recognized as one of the safest vehicles on the road.
The Toyota Corolla Cross has just been awarded a maximum five-star safety rating after being thoroughly tested by the ASEAN NCAP. The recently-launched crossover scored high marks in the adult occupancy and child occupancy tests, as well as in the safety assist tests.
In the frontal impact test, the Corolla Cross was able to provide good head and chest protection for both the driver and front passenger. When it came to leg protection, however, the Corolla Cross was only able to deliver adequate protection for the passenger and marginal protection to the driver. Despite scoring slightly low on the frontal impact leg protection, the Corolla Cross was able to bounce back on the side impact test where it achieved a perfect score in protecting the driver.
As for child protection, the Corolla Cross also scored maximum points. Both the 18-month old child and 3-year old child tests resulted in the Corolla Cross providing good protection in either frontal or side-impact tests. Both child protection occupancy tests were done with the appropriate child seats.
The Corolla Cross also shined in safety features as it’s available with a blind-spot information system, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and even lane-keep assist. Combined with seven airbags and electronic stability control as standard across the model range, Toyota has truly made the Corolla Cross a safe and secure vehicle to be in.
If you’re still having doubts as to just how safe the Corolla Cross is, perhaps the ASEAN NCAP’s assessment of the Corolla Cross will erase any doubts regarding the crossover’s safety.
