TMP also maintained its no. 1 position in the passenger car market with 1,835 units sold, cornering 36.2% of total PC market. Strong PC sales has been further boosted by the introduction of the new Vios and its additional 1.3 automatic transmission variant. For the month of May, the new Vios registered 1,385 units sales with a staggering 36.1% market share, making it the best-selling vehicle in the country.
Based on the results of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), total market reached 13,989 for May. Toyota sold a total of 4,820 units sold, cornering 34.5% of total market share.
In terms of year-to-date sales, Toyota continues to be number one in passenger car, commercial vehicle and overall sales, keeping firm grasp on the Triple Crown Title. Total CV sales is at 13,597 units, PC at 7,800 units, and overall sales at 21, 397 units. In a statement, Raymond Rodriguez, TMP's First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations expressed, "Toyota's significant performance for the month of May is attributed to favorable economic conditions and aggressive marketing efforts. We are pleased by the positive market reception of the new Vios and we are grateful to our customers for making this locally manufactured vehicle the best-selling car in the country."
