Good news for AE86 owners around the world
Toyota Gazoo Racing has begun reproducing parts for some of its most revered cars to help owners keep them on the road. It started with the A70/A80 Supra, followed by the 2000GT and 40-Series Land Cruiser. But it seems Toyota's motorsport division isn't stopping there. The brand will be expanding its parts line even further, this time for a car made famous by a certain anime/manga – the AE86 Trueno/Levin.
Toyota Gazoo Racing said sales of the reproduction parts for the AE86 Corolla Levin and Sprinter Trueno started last November 1, 2021, as part of their heritage program. Unlike the Supras and the 2000GT, only a few critical parts for the AE86 are on sale for the time being.
At the moment, AE86 owners can only avail of rear brake calipers and steering knuckle arms from Toyota Gazoo Racing. But come December 1, 2021, the company will start selling rear driveshafts as well. Hopefully, the motorsport division also offers complete body panels such as doors, fenders, and more, given the age of the AE86.
If you do need the parts mentioned above, better order them fast. Toyota Gazoo Racing says the reproduced parts will only be made for a limited period with the special cooperation of its suppliers. Once the production period has ended, each reproduced part will only be available for purchase for as long as stocks are available.
For those looking for specific parts for the AE86, Toyota Gazoo Racing has a questionnaire on the website where you can list down your requests. If enough people ask for a part, there's a bigger chance the company will make it available through the heritage parts program.
Thankfully, the heritage parts program for the AE86 won't be Japan-exclusive. Instead, it will be available internationally.
