Carlex gives the Toyota Hilux a serious upgrade inside and out

Toyota's rugged midsize pickup has just received a makeover from Carlex Design. Not only is it now more capable to go off the beaten path, the Polish-based tuning house also gave the Hilux a luxurious interior courtesy of new upholstery and features.

“The task of Carlex Design was to prepare a complete project of exterior and interior design for chosen models of pickup vehicles. This exceptional pickup truck combines what’s best about pickups: expressive exterior design in the form of a unique body kit and a number of off-road modifications, as well as a meticulously handcrafted interior,” said the company.

To start things off, the custom Hilux now comes with a new bodykit that was made using 'advanced plastic technology' according to Carlex. Both the front and rear bumpers, including the rear spoiler, wheel arch extensions and hood cover are made from advanced plastic.

Meanwhile, the undercarriage gets a suspension lift-kit from Pedders which Carlex claimed is tuned for both off- and on-road use. Shod in the wheel wells, on the other hand, are large off-road alloys wrapped in BF Goodrich Terrain tires. Topping it all off is the slightly extended wheelbase.

As for the interior, hand-stitched black leather surrounds the cabin which can be seen on the seats, dashboard and steering wheel. Apart from that, the upgraded Hilux by Carlex also received a new touchscreen infotainment system, soundproof doors and rubber floor mats.

Available engines for the custom Hilux include a 4.0-liter V8 and a smaller 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6. Exact output ratings were not revealed but do expect both motors to have more pep compared to factory stock engines.
