Toyota Motor Thailand to reveal 2022 Hilux Revo GR Sport tomorrow
Several weeks ago, Toyota went Gazoo Racing Sport (GR Sport) crazy when they revealed various dressed-up versions of its nameplates. From the Avanza to the Wigo, the Fortuner, and even the Yaris, Toyota did not hold back giving some of its popular models a sporty makeover.
With the automaker seemingly giving the GR Sport treatment to every vehicle, we were not entirely surprised when Toyota Motor Thailand announced that the Hilux will also be getting the GR Sport treatment. Come tomorrow, the automaker will officially reveal the 2022 Hilux Revo GR Sport.
According to our friends over at Headlightmag.com, the special edition pick-up truck will not only get visual updates, but it will also reportedly get chassis upgrades.
Pictures of the upcoming vehicle have yet to be revealed. But more likely than not, Toyota will use the Hilux Revo Rocco (equivalent to the PH-spec Conquest) as a base. From there, Toyota could give the pick-up a different front grille, sporty front/rear bumpers, distinct body graphics, and maybe even a new set of alloy wheels.
Aside from exterior changes, the GR Sport version could come with chassis/suspension upgrades. This means it might be equipped with GR Sport-tuned dampers and maybe a different set of coil springs.
Under the hood, the turbo-diesel engines will supposedly be carried over from the standard models. That means the Hilux GR Sport will come with either a 2.4-liter or 2.8-liter four-cylinder engine. The former puts out 150 PS with 400 Nm of torque, while the latter generates 204 PS and 500 Nm of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission will be the only transmission option.
With just a day to go before its launch, we cannot wait to see what the 2022 Hilux Revo GR Sport has in store.
