Shanghai 2013: Toyota holds world premiere of the 2013 Yaris
New global subcompact hatchback based on Vios makes debut
Toyota held the world premiere of the new Yaris subcompact hatchback at the 2013 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition. Displayed alongside the hatchback, was the recently unveiled Vios, both models are production versions of the Dear Qin global strategic concepts the Japanese automaker displayed in last year’s Beijing Motor Show.

The new Yaris is based on the same platform as the new Vios; sitting on a 2,550mm wheelbase, 90mm longer than its predecessor. It measures in at 4115mm x 1700mm x 1440mm, the length is a massive increase over its predecessor; 330mm to be exact.
Under the hood will be a 1NZ-FE 1.5-liter engine also found in the Vios. The engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic.
The new Yaris will be released in the Philippines by next year. And our source within Toyota Motor Philippines was quick to point out that the local release will not come with the silver bumper highlight.
