Just days after its global introduction in Japan, Toyota Motors Philippines launched the 2015 Alphard at the Manila Peninsula Hotel in Makati City.

Compared to the previous generation, the 2015 Alphard now measures 45mm longer 20mm wider but its height has been decreased by 15mm. The increase in body length also gave the minivan a wheelbase increase of 50mm, which provides better interior space. As previously reported, it now has a grounded stance and greater commanding presence. The new Alphard features a new front end design which is comprised of a redesigned bumper, swept-up LED headlights, a larger grill, and circular foglamps.

The rear and side design of the new Alphard

The rear on the other hand has a redesigned roof mounted spoiler and a revised bumper design. The design of the taillights are still reminiscent of the previous generation though the 2015 model's is bigger. In addition, the rear of the new Alphard has a U-shaped structure that merges the taillights with the license plate garnish.

Getting inside the cabin has been made easier as the rear access step is 50mm lower while the rear opening door has been widened by up to 70mm. The lowered floor height also helps for better entering and exiting from the minivan. Its NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) has also been improved which promises to provide occupants a quality ride comfort along with a quiet ride.

The electronically-adjustable seats

Like the outgoing model, it can still seat 7 in comfort with its electronically adjustable seats that recline with memory function. Cargo space has been vastly improved as it includes a 147 liter storage space that can be found under the luggage room floor. The third row seat has a sliding mechanism along with a recessed storage space which according to Toyota, is a world-first. And even if the third row seats are in use, six golf bags (four lengthways, two sideways) can still be stowed at the rear compartment along with six other hand-carry luggage which can be placed at the recessed storage area.

Other features found in the new Alphard include roller-type sunshades for the rear door and quarter glass windows, a 8-speaker infotainment system that supports DVD, CD, MP3, AUX, USB, Bluetooth and Navigation and a 4.2-inch TFT multi-information display that can be found between the instrument gauges.

Under the hood is the carried over 3.5-liter V6 2GR-FE engine that outputs 275 PS at 6,200 rpm and 340 Nm of torque at 4,700 rpm. The 4-speed automatic gearbox has been replaced with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 2015 Toyota Alphard 3.5 L AT is priced at PHP 3,292,000 and is available in 3 exterior colors: a new Luxury White Pearl, Silver Metallic and Raven Black.
