Toyota PH reveals the Next Generation Tamaraw Concept at 35th anniversary celebration
Earlier this year, Toyota Motor Philippines announced that they will be resurrecting the Tamaraw nameplate. This will be done via a massive PHP 4.4 billion investment that Toyota will use in retooling the Santa Rosa plant to locally manufacture the next-generation Tamaraw.
Fast forward to the present day, and TMP has revealed the new generation Tamaraw in concept form. While the company is not yet ready to show the all-new workhorse in its production form, the automaker did give the public a good look at what to expect.
Revealed during TMP's 35th anniversary, the next-generation Tamaraw concept is our best look yet at the returning workhorse.
Based on the IMV-0 concept first unveiled by the automaker last year in Thailand, the next-generation Tamaraw concept shown locally is essentially similar to the Rangga concept revealed by Toyota during the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).
With a cab & chassis design, the Tamaraw concept highlights the vehicle's flexibility wherein the rear cab can accommodate various body styles. In fact, TMP revealed a modern PUV with side-facing seats, a power sliding side door, as well as a step board for easier ingress and egress. Toyota even showed a Tamaraw built as a drift truck complete with a body kit, a roll cage, and sport bucket seats.
Local production of the all-new Tamaraw is set to begin next year after Toyota is finished retooling the Santa Rosa factory. As to when the vehicle will be revealed, insiders shared with us that the production model will likely be revealed around Q1 2024.
Once the all-new Tamaraw is launched to the public, how many body styles and configurations do you think will be available to interested buyers? Let us know in the comments what you think.
