Toyota to reprogram ECU of 28,828 Raize units
The Raize is one of Toyota’s best-selling models in the country, but the model hasn’t been spared from having a few issues during its production. And this year, there’s a new safety concern that affects local units.
Toyota Motor Philippines has issued a recall that covers a total of 28,828 Raize units made between December 1, 2021, through July 15, 2024.
According to TMP, the concern lies with the car’s engine control unit or ECU. Due to improper programming, under certain driving conditions, such as frequent braking operation in high-altitude areas, there is a possibility that the suction pressure in the brake booster could not be maintained as designed. If this occurs, this could make the brake pedal harder to press, which means the vehicle might take longer to stop.
The reprogramming of the ECU will be performed at no charge to affected Raize owners. All they have to do is set an appointment with any authorized Toyota dealer to prevent problems from occurring.
Toyota PH says owners may also schedule the repair during their Periodic Maintenance appointment if the vehicle is already due or approaching its regular maintenance schedule.
To check if your Raize is affected by this recall, Toyota Motor Philippines has created a special section on their website at: https://online.toyota.com.ph/SSC-For-ECU-On-Raize
