Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has something special in store this coming weekend. After giving participants at the Vios Cup a glimpse of it last week, TMP has announced that the Fortuner GR Sport will be revealed on October 23.
You read that right: Toyota will officially be revealing the dressed-up version of the Fortuner this Saturday. Equipped with plenty of Gazoo Racing goodies, the GR Sport variant of the popular SUV gets some neat upgrades inside and out.
Based on what we saw last weekend, the Fortuner GR Sport that we'll be getting will be based on the Thailand version. Using the range-topping LTD variant as a base, it gets a new front bumper and grille that give it a more aggressive look.
While not immediately noticeable, the SUV also gets a subtly revised rear bumper with an integrated diffuser. Other key changes that will be available on this particular Fortuner include new alloy wheels, red brake calipers, and GR Sport badges.
Unlike the exterior, the interior changes in the Fortuner GR Sport are more restrained. It gets leather seats with red contrast stitching, unique GR headrests, a new instrument panel with red dials, and a GR-branded steering wheel. Interestingly, the Fortuner will also get new rear dampers. This means the GR Sport version will come with the revised suspension components.
No official prices have been revealed just yet. But according to an insider, the Fortuner GR Sport will supposedly retail for PHP 2.509 million. If true, it will become the most expensive 7-seater pick-up-based platform vehicle (PPV) in the market. For reference, the Fortuner LTD 4x4 already has a sticker price of PHP 2.440 million.
With just a few days left before its launch, we're hoping that the Hilux GR Sport will also be revealed soon after.
