The emergence of online stores such as Lazada, Zalora, and Shopee has surely made shopping a lot more convenient. From clothes and food to car parts and accessories, almost everything you need can be bought online and delivered right to your doorstep with just the click of a button.
One of the biggest problems with online shopping, however, is that some of these online sellers could be selling fake or imitation goods. This not only goes for high-end designer shoes and clothing goods, but for almost everything posted on these shops including vehicle parts. The last thing you'd want is to fit fake parts onto your precious vehicle.
As a result, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is warning vehicle owners not to buy Toyota-branded products and accessories online, as neither TMP nor any of its authorized dealers sell genuine products online. They add that these parts could be counterfeit goods made to appear as Toyota genuine parts and accessories.
“Any online sale of automotive parts and accessories appearing or claimed by the online seller as genuine Toyota products is not authorized and sanctioned by TMP. As the sole and exclusive authorized distributor of Toyota Genuine Parts & Accessories, TMP prohibits and will not tolerate any unauthorized sale of Toyota genuine parts and accessories online.” said the company in a statement.
Now, if you want to buy Toyota parts and accessories, TMP advises customers to visit and Toyota dealership nationwide. This would ensure that only genuine Toyota parts are supplied and installed on your vehicles.
So before you buy that overly cheap sparkplug, air filter or brake pad online, remember this – If it's too good to be true, then it probably is.
