The Fortuner GR Sport will not be the only vehicle Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) will be launching this weekend. Also set to make its official debut this Saturday is the Hilux GR Sport.
Much like its SUV brethren, the dressed-up truck will get a plethora of Gazoo Racing goodies inside and out. But what can we expect to see once TMP unveils it to the public on October 23?
Looking at what we saw last weekend, the Hilux GR Sport will look similar to what Thailand has. Based on the top-of-the-line Conquest 4x4, the pick-up will feature a new front bumper, unique black alloy wheels, and a sports bar. It also gets plenty of GR Sport badges to remind everyone this is a special pick-up. It also gets red brake calipers with a GR Sport logo as an extra touch.
Over to the interior, and Toyota was busy giving this particular Hilux a sleeker appearance. It gets sport seats with red inserts, GR logos on the headrests, a GR steering wheel, and aluminum sport pedals. Toyota also installed paddle shifters on the pick-up to give drivers a sportier driving experience should they wish to.
Just like the Fortuner, Toyota also said that the Hilux GR Sport will come with revised suspension components. Both the front and rear suspensions will come with monotube dampers for a more stable ride.
Prices have yet to be revealed for the new top-of-the-line Hilux. However, an insider recently told us that the GR Sport version will start at PHP 1.985 million. Should that be true, the GR Sport will be PHP 110,000 more expensive than the Hilux Conquest 4x4 A/T. And if you want it painted in Emotional Red, you have to pay an extra PHP 20,000 – bumping the price up to PHP 2.005 million.
