Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) yielded 8,709 units last January garnering a 46.7-percent share of the local automotive market.

The company has also announced that they were able to register a 23-percent increase as compared to its sales last January 2014. According to Toyota, this sales performance can be attributed to the continuous demand for its locally manufactured models such as the Innova and the Vios.

“It is encouraging that Toyota started the new year strongly. Coming from a good performance last month, we are optimistic that demand will continue to be favourable because of positive economic outlook and confident consumer spending,” TMP President Michinobu Sugata said in a press release.

Moreover, TMP’s luxury brand Lexus, recorded its highest sales in a single month with 67 units sold. With this, Lexus registered a 91-percent growth versus the same period of last year.
