Toyota Philipines Achieves 5,000 Sales in June 2010
Sets Record-breaking Sales for Vios
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) finishes the first half of the year strongly after selling 5, 096 units in June, garnering 33.6% market share. This is the highest monthly sales record TMP has achieved so far for 2010. This is attributed to the more aggressive performance of both PC and CV markets compared to the previous month.
In the PC Category, Toyota captured 35.7% share with 1,953 units sold. This is attributed to the strong performance of the Altis, Camry and Vios models, each bagging the number one position in their respective segments. The Altis registered 344 sales, cornering 27.5% share of the Compact PC segment. On the other hand, the Camry reigned supreme in the Midsize PC segment with 55% share.
Leading the robust PC line-up is the refreshed Vios and its 1.3 automatic transmission variant, which constitutes almost 77% of Total PC sales for Toyota. For the month of June, the New Vios achieved record-breaking sales of 1,502 units with 47.7% share of the Sub-Compact PC segment. Compared to same period of last year, the New Vios recorded an astounding 50% growth. To date, the Vios remains as the country's bestselling car in the market.
Toyota also maintained leadership in the CV category with 3, 143 units sold, capturing 32.3% of Total CV market. For the month of June, Innova was the 2nd bestselling vehicle with total sales of 1, 154 units.
Based on the results of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), total YTD sales reached 82, 147 units, with 37% year-on-year growth. Toyota continues to lead the automotive landscape with YTD sales of 26, 398 units at 32.3% market share, cementing its hold on the Triple Crown Title.
