Toyota previews Me.We Concept


Visionary concept for a lighter and more affordable environmental car

Toyota European Design and Development (ED2) together with acclaimed French designer Jean-Marie Massaud has come up with an innovative concept car named Toyota Me.We. The concept car features a more affordable and environment friendly car using non-standard design and engineering techniques.

The Me.We concept car features a light and resilient tubular aluminum frame that can accept several interchangeable and customizable body panels that are constructed out of an ultra-lightweight plastic called as expanded polypropylene. The Me.We can also be used as a small city car, pickup, convertible, or an off-roader and can sit up to five people.


It will be powered by an electric motor integrated into the wheels just like the Toyota i-ROAD and are powered by batteries located under the floor.

The simplicity of design and use is further illustrated by the characteristics of the instrumentation. It is limited to a single screen mounted above the steering wheel that indicates the vehicle speed, the level of battery charge, journey information and navigation instructions delivered via a smartphone.

The shared vision between the design center of one of the world’s largest car manufacturers and the visionary independent designer has produced a unique concept with 3 primary aims: Pertinence, which makes the car adaptable to a wide variety of lifestyles, alongside the essential need for high quality and innovation. Synthesis, an approach based on a genuine shift away from auto industry tradition. And modernity, which makes the car reflect the values of forward-thinking individuals, rather than simply reflecting their social status.
