There's no question that the RAV4 has been one of Toyota’s most popular models ever since it was first introduced into the market back in 1994. And as a testament to that popularity, Toyota achieved a significant milestone: they have just sold10 million RAV4 units worldwide.
As of February 2020, they have already sold 10,080,834 RAV4 units worldwide. Last year alone, the automaker sold close to 1 million units of the crossover: 965,760 units to be exact. 535,000 of that total was in North America. According to the automaker, this made it the world’s best-selling crossover and the fourth-best selling passenger vehicle overall.
This year remains a big question mark as the world continues to grapple with the coronavirus outbreak since are staying at home. At the same time, production has been idled due to the decline in sales and to prevent the workforce from infection. Furthermore, dealerships are closed around the world as they are not deemed to be part of the necessary workforce.
With more than 10 million units sold, the RAV4 is slowly inching its way as one of the best selling vehicles ever made.
Despite its strong sales globally, the RAV4 is unlikely to become Toyota’s best selling model, at least not in the near future. The title of the best selling Toyota still goes to the Corolla with over 44 million units sold up until 2016.
