Toyota has upped the ante in the midsize sedan segment with the reinvigorated Camry featuring a new 3-liter V6 VVT-I powerplant. With a 52-percent market share in its segment for the first half of the year, Toyota expects to further strengthen its position in the market.

"In Toyota, we strive to be the best that we can be. We continue to raise our standards, to compete not only with others, but also with ourselves. With the reintroduction of the 2004 Camry, we are making the best even better," TMP president Nobuharu Tabata said.

The 2-liter VVT-i base engine variant has been phased out, while the 2.4E will now become the base trim and the 2.4V as mid-trim. The new 3-liter V6 VVT-i 1MZ-FE powerplant is capable of producing maximum power of 212hp @ 5,800rpm, 55 hp more than the 2.4-liter variant. It pulls a maximum 298Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. It is coupled with a new 5-speed Super ECT automatic transmission to better optimize the wider powerband of the new engine.

With the update comes new exterior styling improvements with a newly designed vertical grille, front bumper with newly designed foglamps, projector headlamps with first in class HID (High Intensity Discharge) system, and auto-leveling function which automatically adjust the headlight's position in response to the car's movement, similar to adaptive headlamps found in premium European cars.

A newly design rear lamp cluster features LED technology for longer life and faster light response which doubles as a safety feature. The 3.0V now rolls on 17-inch wheels with 215/55R17 tires for a wide track and better roadholding, while the 2.4V and 2.4E comes with 16-inch wheels on 215/60R16 tires.

The interior features new leather and fabric seat design which now feature a perforated Camry logo. The 3.0V features power adjustable seats for front and rear passengers, rear automatic sunshade, one-touch up/down power windows with jam protection, tri-color optitron instrumentation, wood and leather trims and leather seats.

New active and passive safety features come as clearance and back sonar sensors, auto-leveling HID headlamps, LED tail lamps, 4-wheel ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, dual front and side airbags, and whiplash protection headrests.

The new Camry carries a pricetag of Php1,680,000 for the 3.0V, Php1,480,000 for the 2.4V, and Php1,295,000 for the 2.4E variant. It is currently on display at all Toyota dealerships nationwide.
