The 2021 Yaris Cross is just one of the few crossovers Toyota has launched in the past few months. Along with its Japan debut, Toyota also released more images of the new model giving us a better look at the small crossover.
Some might find the Yaris Cross design a bit plain, or maybe even quite stylish depending on who you're asking. For those leaning towards the former, maybe Gazoo Racing (GR) and Modellista’s new styling kits might change your mind. Better yet, depending on the kit you get, it can change the overall appeal of the small crossover altogether.
Starting with the GR Parts, the complete kit turns the Yaris Cross into a rugged-looking crossover ready to take on the world. The kit itself is quite simple comprised of only a few parts including a front bumper garnish, door garnish, muffler, mud flaps, and 18-inch wheels. However, those are enough to turn the Yaris Cross from a plain jane crossover to off-roader. Considering the Yaris Cross Hybrid is available with all-wheel drive, it’s no poser either.
If a rugged crossover isn’t what you’re into then maybe Modellista’s offerings would suit you better. Modellista offers two lines of styling kits – Elegant Ice Style and Advance Robust Style. Both kits remove all of the ruggedness found on the Yaris Cross, turning the small crossover into more of a luxurious city cruiser.
The Advance Robust Style line is the more aggressive out of the two. The kit is comprised of a front lip with integrated LED daytime running lights, side skirts, rear bumper extension with new faux exhaust tips, and a roof spoiler. The black fenders are also replaced with body-colored units. Completing the makeover are stylish 19-inch wheels.
Compared to the Advance Robust Style line, the Elegant Ice Style does look similar but with more subtle design cues. In particular, the front lip is integrated a lot cleaner with the bumper. The same can be said about the rear bumper extension. The side skirts, body-colored fenders, and 19-inch wheels do get carried over. Noticeably, the Elegant Ice Style line has more optional extras including chrome trim on the grille, side mirrors, door handles, and rear bumper.
Apart from the exterior mods, Modellista offers interior upgrades as well including LED cabin lights, mood lights, and even new trim on the dashboard. The trunk can also be fitted with a wooden luggage deck.
As with all GR and Modellista parts, these kits don’t come cheap. The 18-inch GR wheels alone cost 172,150 yen (Php 80,000). Meanwhile, the Modellsita kits cost 289,300 yen (Php 133,000) for the Advance Style kit and 235,400 yen (Php 108,000) for the Elegant Style kit. This doesn’t include the 19-inch wheels which will set you back 313,500 yen (Php 145,000) for a set.
