Those venturing to the provinces of Northern Luzon will be glad to know that a new section of road along the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) will be opened to motorists come Decenber 6, 2017.

The new section covers 10.10 km and spans from Binalonan to Pozorrubio, Pangasinan. According to Department of Public Works and Highway Secretary Mark Villar, the 10.10 km segment is nearly complete as Private Infra Dev. Corp. (PIDC), the concessionaire of the project, have already committed to finish the segment just in time for the Christmas season.

“The additional 10 kilometer road would ease traffic and significantly reduce travel time from Tarlac to Pozorrubio from 2 hours and 30 minutes to just 45 minutes,” added Villar.

Moreover, the new section of road also meant that the TPLEX now has a total distance of 78.39 km.

The final 10.92 km section which will connect Pozorrubio, Pangasinan to Rosario, La Union is set to be completed in June 2019.

“Upon full completion, TPLEX would reduce travel time from Tarlac to Rosario, La Union from 3.5 Hours to just an hour, benefiting an average of 20,000 vehicles per day,” said Villar.
