Japan just got their hands on the fourth-generation Lexus IS, and the company’s in-house tuners are already busy modifying the sports sedan. Both TRD and Modellista just released a complete set of aesthetics and some performance parts for the all-new IS together with its debut in the country. Better yet, they’re already available for order.
Starting with Modellista parts for 2021 IS, the kit appears to be intended for the non-F Sport IS variant. The kit itself is comprised of a front lip, side skirts, trunk spoiler, and a new rear bumper, giving the sports sedan a VIP-style look. Paired with the unique 19-inch fan-shaped wheels, it certainly turns the sporty IS into a classier vehicle. Interestingly though, the brochure says “F Sport Parts” even though the car in the photo isn’t. That said, we’re not too sure if the kit will fit the IS F Sport.
As for the TRD parts, the kit appears to be intended for the more aggressive F Sport model. Compared to Modellista, TRD does offer more parts aside from the four-piece kit which comprises a front lip, side skirt, trunk spoiler, and new rear bumper. Those who want to get the complete TRD kit can also get an aerodynamic mirror cover, chassis braces, performance dampers, and lightweight 20-inch wheels. There’s also a sport muffler to match the revised rear bumper.
No doubt the TRD kit looks a lot sportier compared to the Modellista kit which looks classier. When finished in black, the TRD kit enhances the design of the F Sport, giving the sports sedan an even more aggressive look. Two ways to go about modifying the new Lexus IS then.
As with all parts from TRD and Modellista, they don’t come cheap. The TRD exterior kit alone already costs 450,000 yen (PhP 208,000), and it doesn’t even include the wheels or the chassis brace yet. A set of the 20-inch lightweight TRD wheels will set you back 560,000 yen (PhP 260,000). Modellista parts aren’t cheaper too. The 4-piece kit costs around 523,000 yen (PhP 242,000) and the wheels will set you back 478,500 yen (PhP 221,700).
So which kit will you get for the new IS? Both are expensive so at the end of the day, it’s all about preference. You may also want to order them now considering Lexus Philippines is launching the model later this month.
