You might want to reschedule that trip to Baguio or parts of central and northern Luzon some other time after the Department of Public Works and Highways-Bureau of Maintenance (DPWH-BOM) announced several road and bridge closures from Region 2, 3 and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) due to damage from Typhoon Karen.

As of 12NN yesterday, October 17, 2016, seventeen road sections were shut down because of the following: washed-out detour road and bridge approach, slides, mudflow, soil collapse, fallen rocks, trees, and utility posts, and flooding.

In CAR, the closed sections are:

Kabugao-Pudtol Road, and Claveria - Calanasan Road, Rabaw Section in Apayao; Kennon Road, in Baguio; Banaue-Hungduan-Benguet Bdry Road, Brgy. Abatan Section and Banaue - Mayoyao - Alfonso Lista - Isabela Boundary Road, Poblacion Mayoyao in Ifugao; and Junction Talubin - Barlig - Natonin - Paracelis - Calaccad Road Intermittent Sections in Mt. Province.

Region 2 roads include:

Basco-Mahatao-Ivana-Uyugan-Imnajbu Road, in Batanes

Cabagan-Sta. Maria overflow bridge, Sta. Maria, isabela in Isabela

San Pedro Bridge, along NRJ-Villa Hermosa-San Pedro-Cabuaan-Disimungal Road and Victoria - Kasibo Road in Isabela

Bambang Kasibu Road in Nueva Vizcaya

In Region 3, the following were closed to traffic:

Dinadiawan-Madela Road, and Nueva Ecija Aurora Road, in Aurora

Nueva Ecija- Aurora Road. Labi Bridge Brgy Labi, Bongabon, NE and Barangay Calaanann, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija, Nanduran Spillway

Tablang-Gabaldon Road particularly at Barangay Bateria, Gabaldon Barangay Calabasa, Gabaldon NE

Gabaldon-Dingalan Road Langawan detour Bridge in Nueva Ecija.


Light vehicles are also warned of the flooding on Baler Casiguran Road, and Baler-Cemento Via Dicaloyungan, in Baler, Aurora that have rendered them impassable as of the moment.

Meanwhile, motorists from Nueva Vizcaya may now use the Nueva Vizcaya-Benguet Road, which is a shorter route and faster route to Baguio City.
