PGA Cars, the official distributor of Porsche cars in the Philippines, has launched the updated 911 in the country. The local distributor has brought in two variants of the updated sports car, the Carrera S and Carrera 4S with the latter being equipped with all wheel drive.
While the car retains its basic shape, Porsche put in minor exterior tweaks to the 991.2. These include new headlights with four-point daytime running lights, larger air intakes and a reshaped bumper. At the back, it gets a new bumper, cooling vents and tweaked tailights. New side mirrors improve aerodynamic efficiency while the restyled door handles complete the exterior revisions.
The minor model change also includes the updated Porsche Management System (PSM) which features a 7-inch display with multi-touch gestures, online satellite navigation, voice control, Wi-Fi and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
While exterior and interior changes are subtle, the same can't be said about its powertrain. Like many European manufacturers, Porsche has replaced the old 3.8 liter, naturally aspirated flat-6 with a smaller turbocharged 3.0 liter. For 2016, the Carrera S and Carrera 4S get a 20 PS and 60 Nm bump from the normally aspirated models. The new turbocharged engines put out 420 PS and 500 Nm of torque.
For handling, it gets Active Torque vectoring along with Porsche Active Suspension Management and grip is provided by a staggered set of 20 inch wheels with different widths for front and rear. With the new engine, Porsche claims the updated 911 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds with the 7-speed manual and 4.3 seconds with the dual-clutch transmission. Top speed is rated at 306 km/h.
