Ssangyong's pickup offering gets a new heart, along with several equipment upgrades for 2017 in the UK. Now called the Musso, the updated pickup replaces the previous Korando Sport pickup while still retaining the familiar styling.

“Our commercial vehicles represent an intrinsic part of the SsangYong range and we decided to reintroduce the Musso name to differentiate this superb utility truck from our passenger cars. Musso — which means rhinoceros in Korean — is a tough, robust proposition for any trade, and with a specification, price and warranty no others can compete with,” said Paul Williams, CEO of Ssangyong Motor UK.

Propelling the 2017 Musso is an all-new Euro 6 compliant 2.2-liter turbo-diesel. Ssangyong claimed it will deliver more power while simultaneously emit lower C02 emissions. It generates 178 PS along with 400 Nm of torque available from 1400 rpm – 2800 rpm. Transmissions available for the 2017 Musso include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic, both of which come with four-wheel-drive (4WD).

Apart from the new engine, Ssangyong also stated that the pickup is capable of hauling 1,050 kg worth of payload on its bed, and can even tow a braked trailer weighing up to 3,000 kg. The rear suspension was also upgraded and features a multi-link setup with coil springs for a more car-like ride.
