Following the reveal of the updated i10 in Paris, Hyundai has also given the Grand i10 a refresh for the 2017 model year. Being longer than the regular i10, the Grand i10 moves up to the B-Segment where it sees off the likes of the Honda Jazz, Suzuki Swift and Toyota Yaris.
At the front of the 2017 Grand i10, it gets a new front fascia. It gets a slightly larger chrome trim piece on the grill while the front air dam is reshaped. Replacing the slats on the airdam is a honeycomb treatment, giving the new Grand i10 a fresher look. Also redesigned are the fog light housings which are now L-shaped. Hyundai also introduces active aerodynamics to the Grand i10 in the form of air shutters behind the airdam. Hyundai says that it helps the car cut through the air at cruising speeds and open when stationary. The automaker adds that these air shutters air in fuel economy.
Hyundai has also given the Grand i10 minor tweaks to the rear. Like the standard i10, it gains the large unpainted bumper guard, as well as repositioned reflectors. The Grand i10 also gets an integrated roof rail for this minor model change. New wheels are also part of this redesign. Meanwhile, the headlights hood and side panels are carried over from the current model.
As for its interior, it is largely carried over from the current Grand i10. It retains th circular air-con vents, two tone panels and steering wheels. Infotainment systems may vary per market but in India, it gets a 7-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, smartphone link and Navigation for the top of the line models. Top-spec models also gain automatic climate control, rear air-con vents and push-button start.
The powertrain lineup consists of two engines, one gas and one turbodiesel. The gas variant is powered by the same 1.2 liter Kappa engine in the current model. It produces 86 PS and 119 Nm of torque and is available with either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual. Moving to the turbodiesel engine, it is new for 2017 and it's a 1.2 liter unit that puts out 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque. The diesel model only comes with a manual transmission.
