With the reveal of the updated S-Class, it was only a matter of time before Mercedes-Benz did the same treatment to its coupe, as well as the cabriolet models. Mercedes-Benz says expect a significant technological update on these bodystyles, much like the ones seen in the sedan.
At the moment, Mercedes-Benz is still keeping the car under wraps but it's likely that the changes made to the sedan will be seen on the coupe and cabriolet. Based on past spy photos, it is possible that it could get a new grill with the six and eight cylinder models getting the same one found V12 models. Expect the front bumper to be reshaped for the 2018 model year, incorporating larger corner air intakes. As seen in the spy photos, it will come with slightly redesigned headlights featuring new LED elements.
It is likely that the S-Class sedan's interior to be applied to the Coupe and Cabriolet. Expect these models to switch to to a three-spoke steering wheel as opposed to the two-spoke found on the pre-facelift models. An even wider selection of wood trims options are also expected, along with a new ambient LED lighting with 64 available colors to light up the interior. Like the sedan, expect the dual 12.3-inch display to make it on to the coupe and cabriolet
This having the S-Class name, the coupe and cabriolet powertrain range starts with the 3.0-liter V6 that produces 362 PS for the S450. The S560 is now powered by a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 producing 463 PS. As for the S63, it now uses a 603 PS version of the 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 replacing the old 5.5-liter bi-turbo V8 engine. For the S65, it retains the same V12 bi-turbo engine as the pre-facelift model.
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet will make their world premiere at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show by September.
