There were 8,205 Lamborghinis sold worldwide in 2019, almost 5,000 units were from the Urus
It’s not easy to sell a supercar. To begin with, they’re a lot more expensive than regular everyday vehicles. As a result, not everyone can afford to buy one. Despite that, it seems Lamborghini has managed to sell a good number of them in 2019, almost double that of 2018. Specifically, the Italian supercar builder delivered a total of 8,205 vehicles to customers all over the world.
Out of the 8,205 units sold, which one do you think was the best selling Lamborghini in 2019? If you thought it was the 'entry-level' Huracan, well it’s not.
Instead, it's the brand’s SUV model – the Urus. According to the Italian marque, a total of 4,962 units of the Urus were sold in 2019. For reference, that’s close to the number of units Lamborghini sold in total for 2018. The V10 Huracan Evo only comes second with 2,139 units sold. Meanwhile, the flagship Aventador comprises the remaining 1,104 units.
“The year 2019 was the most successful in our history. The team delivered another substantial sales increase, taking us to unprecedented historic highs. In only two years we more than doubled our sales numbers, a success that cannot be overrated. This clearly proves the power of our brand and the quality and sustainability of our product and commercial strategy. Our Super SUV Urus sold almost 5,000 units, a number that comes close to our total sales volume in 2018,” said Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
As a result of the increased sales, Lamborghini experienced a 43% growth from 2018 to 2019. The brand also continued to achieve global sales growth for nine years in a row. The automaker expects this growth to continue in 2020. Considering the big plans the automaker has in store for the future, including hybrid technology, their strong sales may just continue for 10 years in a row.
