Volkswagen’s all-electric I.D. family just keeps getting bigger and bigger. The German automaker recently introduced the I.D. Space Vizzion concept which is the latest addition to the brand’s family of electric concepts. It is set to make its official and public debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show later this month.
From the photos, the Space Vizzion appears to be a sleek five-door wagon or shooting brake. The body line of the Space Vizzion is very sleek. It is then paired with an aggressive looking front end with a large, one-piece air intake vent. At the rear, there is a large roof spoiler and slim LED taillights. Interestingly, it does not look anything like the older ID Vizzion sedan concept.
Much like other models in the I.D. family lineup, the wagon/shooting brake will also be fully-electric. Despite clearly looking like a wagon, Volkswagen says it is “crossover of tomorrow”. Specifically, they say that it “combines the aerodynamic characteristics of a Gran Turismo with the spaciousness of an SUV.”
There are only two images of the Space Vizzion’s cabin, both of which show four captain’s seats. A long center console that then separates them from one another. Volkswagen says that the majority of the materials used in the Space Vizzion’s cabin are also environmentally friendly.
Underpinning the Space Vizzion will be Volkswagen’s Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB) platform which is used for all of the brand’s future EVs. Volkswagen claims the electric wagon will have a 483-kilometer range. However, specifics have yet to be released.
Volkswagen will fully unveil the ID Space Vizzion at the LA Auto Show, which will give us a better idea about this new wagon. They also add that a production version is coming in 2021.
