Settlement deal, cash payment and other benefits as compensation

Following events after their 'dieselgate' fiasco, Volkswagen reached a settlement deal with owners of the Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) vehicles by either cancelling their leases and returning their money, or making their engines comply with emmissions standards. Despite this settlement however, compensation for Volkswagen USA dealers were not stipulated in any documents.

Thanks to that predicament, dealers were forced to file a lawsuit against Volkswagen last April. In response, Volkswagen has decided to compensate their American dealers for their loss of sale through cash payments as well as other benefits.

No other details have been specified regarding the dealers’ compensation. Volkswagen did say, however, that final details on their compensation for dealers will be released by the end of September.
